I came across this quote on Pinterest the other day and thought, “well isn’t that the truth?” In addition to an innate talent for styling, I excel at two other things: 1. keeping the important people and things in perspective and 2. picking the most expensive item on the shelf.
Today, I hope you join me and Coco and take some time to enjoy the most wonderful and simple things like friends, family and, in my world, puppies. Sometimes it’s all you can do while you save up for those second-most-wonderful things. Happy Monday, Foxes. xo
One day last week my friend Kellee sent me this quote. She knows I’ve been going through some stuff for what now seems like forever and that recently I’ve been feeling ready to run. Happily, running toward good things, not away. Which, believe me, often seemed like the best option. Still some days running is easier than others.
Like this morning. I don’t think I’ve had a day where I’m as excited or ready to stretch those legs in a long time. I’ve been super busy with lots of great clients, I am getting ready for another trip to LA to work and there are gobs of amazing fashion shows I am behind on and excited to watch. At the same time, I’m feeling that anxiety about change that tugs you back and, at its worst, keeps you from moving. There are other motivators I play in my head on days like today, but none quite so simple as this little mantra. I’ve always prided myself on being a girl who runs the show, and today a little motivation to remember to show Monday who’s boss seemed like a good idea. Let’s make it a great one, Foxes. xo
Recently, I was talking goal-setting with a dear friend who also happens to be a life coach. As I was describing how my career would look as a perfect 10, she stopped me and said, “you know your 8 is most people’s 11, right?” Her words were much appreciated perspective on my tendency to set the bar impossibly high and then be hard on myself for not being an immediate success.
The truth is, reaching a goal is kind of like accessorizing. You want to be bold and at the same time, too much ruins an outfit. The trick is balance and being OK with letting some things fade into the background so others can shine bright. Today, with a potential-filled Monday in front of you, make sure you’re focusing your shine in the right places, Foxes. Here’s to a great week ahead. xo
Funny thing about Mondays. As dreaded as they are, they’re also the day of the week that holds the most possibility for gloriously reaching our goals. I mean, Monday IS the day we pick to turn the page and start something new. It’s not just me, right?
However you define your personal glory– Cleaning out your closet (mine). Quitting naughty habits. Or, simply watching all of the reality TV banked in your DVR– Dare to begin making it real today. Happy Monday, Foxes. xo
